3D HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Therapy

3D HIFI Procedure in Action at Beaver Clinic

What is HIFU therapy and What Can it do For You?

HIFU is High Intensity Focused Ultrasound also known as ‘3D SkinMed’ or ‘Ultrasound Facelift’. This procedure is your next best thing to an actual face lift. Though not possible to get the exact same benefits from a surgical face lift, this treatment gets as close as possible without a knife in sight. Very few places can offer this cutting-edge treatment, so we are very excited to bring High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound or HIFU Therapy.

HIFU therapy lifts, tightens and tones loose skin to counteract the effects of both time and gravity. One of the first effects of gravity is that the brows descend, and the eyes start to appear smaller. Ultrasonic will lift the brow, which in turn reduces the excess skin on the lids, open the eyes and gives a more refreshed and youthful appearance.

Perhaps best of all there is also no downtime, so you can go back to work that very afternoon.

1. What Makes Ultrasonic So Special?

HIFU therapy is the only non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure that can specifically target and strengthen the deep foundation layer of tissue that doctors address in surgery. The ability to treat not just the skin, but its underlying support, from the inside out, helps to ensure both safe and satisfying results, with no downtime.

2. Does it Hurt?

There can be some discomfort while the energy is being delivered, but it is temporary and a signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, and practitioners will discuss with you your options for making the experience as pleasant as possible. Patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come.

3. What Can I Expect Afterwards?

You can return to your normal activities right away and there are no special measures you need to take.

  • Immediately following the HIFU body lipolysis treatment, the skin may appear red for a few hours. It is not uncommon to experience slight swelling for a few days following treatment or tingling/tenderness to the touch for days to weeks following the procedure, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

  • Occasional temporary effects may include bruising or welts, which resolve in hours to days, or numbness in a select area, which resolves in days to weeks.

  • As with any cosmetic procedure, there are possible risks associated with treatment. There is a remote risk of a burn that may or may not lead to scarring (either of which will respond to medical care), or temporary nerve inflammation, which will resolve in a matter of days to weeks.

  • Temporary local muscle weakness may result after treatment due to inflammation of a nerve.

Temporary numbness may result after treatment due to inflammation of nerves.

4. Is HIFU Safe?

Ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for over 50 years. Clinical trials have demonstrated the safety of this latest application.

5. What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

With just one treatment, the regenerative process is initiated. But the full effect will build gradually over the course of 8 to 12 weeks. Some patients may benefit from more than one treatment.

Visible effects include a lifting and toning of loose skin. This results in reduced skin laxity on the eyelid and a more open, youthful look to the eyes overall. Patients have also reported firmer, better-fitting skin in other areas of the face and neck too.

There is also an invisible result from the procedure with the creation of new collagen, which gives the skin its youthfulness.

6. Who is a Good Candidate for HIFU?

A good candidate for HIFU is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. A lowered brow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin.

While it does not duplicate the results of surgery, HIFU has proven to be an inviting alternative for those who are not ready for surgery.

How to Prepare for Your Treatment

There are no major things needed to prepare for your Hi-Fu or Lipolysis, but these are things we advise you to do.

Days leading up to your treatment:

If you have an area which is being treated where your skin is cut or excessively bruised, then you need to contact us and let us know a minimum of 24hrs before your treatment.

The day of your Treatment

  • 1-2 hours before our treatment avoid taking any supplements that thin your blood, such as fish oil. These all have blood thinning properties that can make you more responsive to bruising.

  • If you’re having a treatment on your face - please be make up free prior to appointment.

  • Please avoid having a sunbed/ sauna or any direct heat for 24 hours before appointment and 48 hours after.

  • Consume a minimum of 1L of water before and after your treatment.

  • Please don’t arrive to your appointment on an empty stomach! We recommend you eat a small light meal before and bring a light sugary snack to eat after your session.

  • We advise that is best for you to wear loose clothing that’s comfortable

  • You might want to consider bringing a change of clothes. But this isn’t necessary it’s down to you.

  • Be aware that for body treatment, the gel for the treatment is applied to your skin and might get on your clothes, but if so, it does wash off easily.

  • You can bring headphones (if appropriate, depending on which areas are being treated) to keep you occupied, during your session. Some entertainment will help make the time pass faster, as it can take 1-2 hours depending on how many areas you target.

After the Treatment

  • Please avoid having a sunbed / sauna any direct heat appointment and 48 hours after.

  • Please avoid perfumed or high fragranced products after appointment for 48 hours after.

  • Consume a minimum of 1L of water after your treatment.

  • If you are feeling lightheaded after your treatment please avoiding drinking alcohol, handling heavy machinery or lifting 24hr after the treatment
